Darkness envelops the stage, torn apart by sudden, cold and aseptic lighting. A luxury clinic, in orbit around planet Earth: the last frontier of well-being for the opulent elite. Between addictions to work, sex and psychotropic drugs, the protagonists of “We’ll Save the World Before Dawn” stand as dark icons of ephemeral and artificial happiness.

Carrozzeria Orfeo catapults us into a hallucinating vortex, dissecting the contradictions of a totally alienated civilization. The protagonists are grotesque puppets of a dystopian society. Obsessed with success and personal branding, they stage lives that are an infinite loop of performance, competition and fiction, where authenticity has been sacrificed on the altar of selfishness.
Under the veneer of perfection, however, lies an abyss of loneliness, an existential anguish that manifests itself in neurosis and acts of self-destruction. The frenetic pace – despite the monstrous duration of the show – the biting comedy and the text by Gabriele Di Luca settle a punch in the stomach, an inevitable warning that leaves no escape.
The precise and irreverent direction of the trio Di Luca, Setti, Tedeschi orchestrates a macabre dance of hypertrophic egos and occult fragilities. Sebastiano Bronzato, Alice Giroldini, Sergio Romano, Roberto Serpi, Massimiliano Setti and Ivan Zerbinati take the stage with talent and dedication, giving life to a gallery of memorable characters. Their performance is a concentration of energy, irony and pathos that captures attention and shakes the conscience.
“We’ll Save the World Before Dawn” is a work that is as disturbing as it is necessary. A blast of nihilism that forces us to confront our hypocrisy and our rampant selfishness. An invitation to rebel once morest the diktat of happiness at all costs and to rediscover the value of an authentic, albeit imperfect, existence. There is no happy ending, but an honest ending. An epilogue that leaves a bad taste in the mouth, but perhaps also lights a spark of hope. A courageous and provocative work that cannot be ignored. A must-see for those who have the courage to look reality in the face and question their consolidated certainties. If you are looking for an evening of light escapism, this show is for you. Even more so if you are ready to face an intellectual challenge and confront the shadows of our time: then don’t miss it.
