Speaking to the newspaper O PAÍS, the president of the National Association of Footballers of Angola (ANFA), Igor Nascimento, accused the acting president of the Assembly of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), Leão Chi Min, of failing democracy and implementation of dictatorship in the Ordinary General Assembly of the governing body of the sport, in the province of Uíge.
After leaving the meeting, Igor Nascimento stated that the FAF management does not deserve to lead Angolan football, as it is once morest the class associations, ANFA and the Angolan Football Coaches Association (ATEFA). “The aforementioned associations will no longer vote and have a say in future FAF assemblies,” he said. Igor Nascimento explained that he was not given any opportunity to discuss this point.
It should be remembered that the president of ANFA refused to travel to Côte d’Ivoire at the invitation of the FAF to support the Palancas Negras in the African Nations Championship (CAN) 2023. In other words, Igor Nascimento, at the time, challenged the FAF to pay all prizes for game for athletes.
In turn, a source from the Federation assured that the Ordinary General Assembly took place in a harmonious and understanding environment, except for the discomfort created by the president of ANFA, Igor Nascimento. The same source, for this reason, revealed that the acting president of the General Assembly Board requested the removal of the ANFA president’s room.
