The President of Angola, João Lourenço, will participate in the China-Angola business forum that takes place tomorrow, Friday the 16th, where a Memorandum of Strategic Understanding will be signed between the Geological Institute of Angola (IGEO) and the Office of Geology and Jiangxi Mineral Resources in Beijing
The president of the Board of Directors of the Geological Institute of Angola (IGEO), José Manuel, told the newspaper OPAÍS that Angola will share knowledge regarding the geological potential of Minas Gerais with its Chinese counterpart, through a memorandum that will be signed tomorrow, during the Business Forum between the two countries.
José Manuel said that the memorandums that will be signed between the organizations will serve to collaborate on aspects of common interest, to the advantage of both parties. For IGEO, he highlighted, this signature represents the acquisition of knowledge such as Rare Earths, fundamental for the manufacture of cell phones, microphones, telephones and plasmas, among other products. On the occasion, the geological-mining potential, investment opportunities, legislation that governs mining activity, as well as existing mining projects that require investment or financial partnerships will be presented.
“China has always been a giant in the world economy and depends on mineral resources, more specifically on natural resources, because without them we would not have the life we have today,” he said. The event will be held on the sidelines of the visit of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to China, with the theme “Investment in Angola”, under the direction of the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo.
João Lourenço, who begins a three-day official visit this Friday, will participate in the Business Forum and hold meetings with businesspeople from the Asian giant who already operate in Angola or intend to invest in the country. Future strategic approaches to bilateral relations between the two countries are planned.
