Roda JC has regained second place in the first division, which entitles it to direct promotion to the Premier League. The team from Kerkrade won the Limburg derby once morest MVV 3-0.
Roda started well when visiting Maastricht and quickly made it 0-1 via a free kick from Arjan van der Heide. There were chances on both sides in the remainder of the first half. For example, Dailon Livramento and Bryan Smeets might have scored for MVV and Enrique Peña Zauner and Nils Röseler were close to success for Roda.
Roda JC came out of the dressing room very strong following the break and Václav Sejk and Van der Heide further increased the score with accurate shots.
Uproar
The match was just barely completed without an upset and accompanying strike. Roda player Rodney Kongolo was pushed over on his own back line ten minutes before the end. Some light skirmishes followed. When Roda goalkeeper Calvin Raatsie decided to check on Kongolo, an MVV fan poured a full cup of beer on him.
Raatsie reacted angrily and the fire flared up, while other MVV fans also decided to throw cups. A wet suit for Raatsie, following which referee Pol van Boekel stopped the match for a few minutes.
