From 2021, to Caixa Econômica Federal has been rehearsing the launch of support for Apple Pay — and now we finally have official information that this will happen soon.
After the name of the institution appears in the list of banks participating in Apple Pay in Brazilo MacMagazine contacted the company to understand whether the release of this support was imminent.
In a note, Caixa informed us that it intends to add this support in the first half of this year:
Caixa informs that the Apple Pay feature is expected to be launched in the first half of 2024 for Visa and Elo credit cards.
In fact, some level of support for Apple Pay is already being implemented in the Caixa system — since, according to tests carried out by the Caixa team, MMCaixa’s physical credit card (Elo brand) generated an approval SMS for the service, although the process to add it might not be completed.
Banco Neon
Another financial institution that appeared on the list of banks compatible with Apple Pay in Brazil was Neon — which, it’s worth noting, added support for Apple’s digital wallet in 2020, but not definitively.
When contacted, Neon has not yet clarified when or if it will add support for Apple Pay; We will, of course, inform you when we receive a response from the institution.
