Grijalva, who seeks to stand out in the Olympic event, faced tough competition where 38 athletes started the testbut only 32 managed to complete it. Despite the demand, the Guatemalan athlete ranked 16thdemonstrating his determination and improving his previous time.
The National Athletics Federation celebrated Grijalva’s achievement, highlighting his performance and the importance of this milestone for national sport. On its social networks, the federation expressed: “Great start to the season for Luis Grijalva at the ‘The Ten’ event in Los Angeles, California. The 10,000 meter test concluded in which Luis set a new national record with a time of 27:26.02, surpassing what was obtained in 2023 “.
Despite not reaching the podium, the competition was dominated by Grant Fisher, followed by Nico Young and Andreas Almgren. However, Grijalva’s performance highlights his preparation and determination in search of better results in future competitions, especially in the upcoming Olympic Games.
This event marks the start of the season for Grijalva, who is among the 10 athletes classified to represent Guatemala at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
