Kwenda covers more than 5 thousand families in Soyo – Jornal OPaís

Five thousand and 587 families from four communes in the municipality of Soyo, Zaire province, will begin, in the next few days, to benefit from the “Kwenda” Social Monetary Transfer Program, revealed yesterday the provincial director of the Social Support Fund (FAS), João Maurício da Costa. To this end, the process of community and institutional validation of this universe of households has been taking place since last Monday, in the municipalities of Mangue Grande, Quêlo, Pedra do Feitiço and Sumba.

João Maurício da Costa assured, in statements to Angop, that the names of beneficiaries in the registration database are being checked and any complaints are being addressed. He highlighted that during this process, lasting 12 days, those citizens who already benefit from other support granted by the State will be purged from the FAS database, as Kwenda is only intended for families in a socially vulnerable situation.

He assured that teams made up of Community and Health Development Agents (ADECOS), technicians from his institution and the Municipal Administration of Soyo deploy to all the villages attached to the four communes covered to carry out this mission. The work, according to the person responsible, has the support of communal administrations, local traditional authorities and neighborhood committees in the referenced locations.

At Soyo level, only the host commune is left out of this process, for reasons that Maurício da Costa did not point out. With the arrival of Kwenda in Soyo, the number of municipalities in Zaire that already benefit from this program financed by the Angolan Executive and the World Bank (WB) increases to five, with only Mbanza Kongo, the capital of the province, missing.
