Indonesian men’s doubles pair Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto said they were happy and satisfied to be able to defend their All England title. This year, Fajar/Rian dominated the oldest badminton tournament by beating the Malaysian pair, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik, in two straight games with identical scores of 21-16 and 21-16 at the Utilita Arena Birmingham, Sunday (17/3).

“Very happy to be back to back champions at All England. This is also our first title following All England last year. The point is we want to continue to be consistent, achieve once more, win in every tournament and the feeling cannot be expressed in words, especially since we came as the top not favored,” said Fajar through an official statement.

He admitted that he made a lot of preparations before undergoing the final round. Together with Rian, he studied and studied the opponent’s game in order to prepare the best strategy.

“We were able to excel on the front ball while they continued to force themselves to attack. That’s what we suppressed,” he said.

Furthermore, Fajar stated that this title was presented to coach Aryono Miranat. Because, this is the first title since being coached by Aryono.

“Since Coach Aryono stepped up as main coach, this is our first title with him. So we were very enthusiastic regarding celebrating with him,” he said.

Meanwhile, Rian said that the title was presented to the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI).

“I dedicate this title to PBSI, my family and all Indonesian supporters who continue to support us whether we win or lose,” said Rian. (Z-11)
