And “Carnivaliki” happened: The extraordinary carnival newspaper of the Carnival Committee – 2024-03-18 11:59:08

“Karnavaliki” is an extraordinary carnival newspaper, which was inspired, organized and edited by the Carnival Committee of Patras. It was supported by the Region of Western Greece.

The 12-page edition, printed in approximately 50,000 sheets, is distributed free of charge in the city from Wednesday, March 13.

It will be distributed in schools, shops, hotels, KTEL, as well as in the main streets of the city.

Its content, for the most part, consists of original texts that narrate, known and hitherto unknown stories of the Patronus Carnival.

All the articles have been written by members and friends of the Carnival Committee and are accompanied by anecdotal photographic material.

The Patrinos Carnival is recorded for the first time in the year 1829, with the news regarding the dance of Moretis.

So, with a supertitle: ‘And it was Carnival’, the calendar begins with Carnival year 0 (zero) and we arrive at today, Carnival year 196.

Particularly important is participation of the great Greek writer Athena Kakouriwith her article:
‘Ta Carnivalistika’, in which the quintessence of the life of each Patrino, during the Carnival period, is characteristically described.

On the last page of the newspaper, for the first time in the Carnival chronicles, His Excellency, the Carnival King, is featured exclusively.

He breaks his silence and speaks in person to the journalist K. Maskaras, in a -truly- fantastic and historically unique interview, entitled ‘I, the King’.

The Patras Carnival Committee, faithful to its carnival route, remembers and honors the history of the city’s biggest celebration.
