A fire broke out in a residential building in Pfaffnau early Monday morning

It’s burning once more! Shortly following midnight, a fire broke out in an apartment building in Pfaffnau. An adjacent barn also caught fire. «I saw it when I was going to bed. At first I thought I was dreaming,” says a reader Blick.

The fire brigade reached the scene of the fire at around 12:20 a.m. and has been fighting the inferno ever since, the reader reports. “A lot of pieces are still falling down.” The meter-high flames can also be seen from Zofingen AG. The Pfaffnau-Roggliswil, Zofingen fire departments and a rescue helicopter are in action.

Large area cordoned off

As the Lucerne police announced on Monday morning, seven residents were evacuated. Three people were taken to hospital by emergency services with suspected smoke poisoning. Two people are still missing. Police believe they are still in the building.
