KALAVRIA, docufilm type, duration 92′
Screenplay, direction: Cristina Mantis, Music: Alexandros Hachalis
Cinematography: Fabio Olmi, Dimitris Zisopoulos
Starring:
Ivan Franek, Agnese Ricchi, Alexandros Hahalis, Domenico Pantano, Badara Seck, Gioacchino Criaco
Main characters:
Ulysses / Ivan Frankek: The mysterious migrant represents those millions of little people who have fled and are often shipwrecked in the global South and move around confused and lost, at least until they somehow manage to find each other. Our Odysseus slowly manages to encounter unique and often out of the ordinary human beings, within the pristine nature of this same land that was generous to Odysseus and will now welcome him for his rebirth.
Alexander Hahalis: Impersonates himself. The multi-level collaboration for twenty-eight years with the film’s composer and co-star and because of his personality that has as a point of reference the timeless cultural heritage of Ancient Greece, with his unique epic musical approach, primarily inspired the Greek-born director Cristina Mantis to create the project. As she wrote: The glowing figure of the Greek composer refers to Great Greece, (Magna Graecia), which was born from the meeting of the Greeks with the populations that lived on the Ionian side of modern Calabria. His inspired walk among the ruins is full of “Apollonian dimension”. The musician travels to the Greek region where they still speak his language and has the opportunity to delve into the brotherhood between Greece and Calabria and to reflect that in those places, myth and reality still go hand in hand…
The film’s producers commented: “The musical score of the work by the great Greek composer Alexandros Hachalis lends a unique epic aura, which harmonizes perfectly with the spirit, the theme and also the natural environment of the Greek-speaking regions of Calabria, evoking awe and strong emotions in the audience. The connection of Greece with the legendary Magna Graecia (the Great Greece), which maintains its identity in the hearts of its inhabitants to this day, is achieved.
Kirki / Agnese Ricchi: She plays the famous queen in Homer’s Odyssey.
Pythagoras / Domenico Pantano: He plays the great Greek mathematician and philosopher who taught the Universal Harmony of the Spheres and left an indelible mark on Great Greece and worldwide.

SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT
A castaway, a young Odysseus, landed in Calabria, with no memory, finds himself traveling places and meeting people from the streets and Greek myth who welcome him with their humanity. Our images show a southern world: past and present coexist in a new and unexplored Calabria.
The protagonist, wandering without memory in the lands of Calabria, plunges into an inner journey in search of his identity. Through meetings with modern travelers and mythological figures, he gradually discovers the nuances of his past and the reflections of Greek myth in everyday life. Guided by the generosity and wisdom of the figures he encounters, the castaway rediscovers himself not only as an individual, but also as part of a larger connection to history and mythology, thus lighting the way to a new awareness of himself and of the world that surrounds him.
