About 25 years ago, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al-Sayed Khattab from Egypt participated in the third session of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award competition and won first place in it, and was honored by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, May God protect him, the sponsor and founder of the competition, and today he returns to the competition, but as a member of its jury.
Dr. Khattab confirmed that winning the competition at that time was an incentive for him to continue his education at the College of the Holy Qur’an in Al-Azhar, and to continue graduate studies in order to obtain a doctorate and be appointed as a teacher there.
His Eminence also participated as a member of the jury in other international competitions, such as the King Abdulaziz Competition, the Moscow Competition, the Egypt Competition, and the Morocco Competition twice. He also became a member of the Qur’an Correction Committee at the Islamic Research Academy at Al-Azhar, and certified the ten minor and major recitations and the four irregular recitations.
Dr. Khattab praised the level of the competitors in the 27th session of the competition, the closeness of their levels, their ability to memorize, the strong performance, and the clear distinction in their confidence to appear before the international jury, stressing that this advanced level of the competitors makes the work of the jury difficult.
Amidst the audience of members of the communities residing in the country following the participation of their countries’ contestants, and in the presence of members of the organizing committee of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, a number of officials, members of the consular corps, and parents of the contestants, the activities of the fifth day of the 27th session of the Dubai International Quran Competition witnessed 7 contestants competing to win first places in front of The competition’s jury was praised by followers and jury members for their outstanding levels.
Competing before the international jury were Cheikh Diop from Senegal, Mohamed Adra from Norway, Faisal Ahmed Siraj Mia from Bangladesh, Mohamed Burhan Hassan from Djibouti, Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed from Somalia, Moussa Diaby from Congo-Brazzaville, and Irakozi Hassan from Burundi, all of whom competed in the Memorizing the narration of Hafs on the authority of Asim.
What was noticeable on the fifth day of the award was the high level among the competitors, who impressed the judging panel, the audience, and the observers with the strength of their memorization, their ability to answer all the judges’ questions, the recitation in a beautiful voice, and the mastery of the articulations of the letters and the rules of intonation.
Dr. Saeed Abdullah Hareb, Vice Chairman of the Award Organizing Committee, honored the sponsors of the fifth day of the competition, which are: Dubai Media, Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, and National Bonds.
