Dublin, March 17, 2024 (ots /PRNewswire) – The popular St. Patrick’s Festival once once more delighted thousands of visitors in Dublin this year. Together they celebrated the Irish national saint with a colorful parade through the streets of the city that combined art, culture and tradition.

St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated around the world by the 70 million people who have a connection to Ireland. Irish music and dance have become synonymous with the celebrations of this day.

In Dublin, the national St. Patrick’s Festival has the motto SPRÉACH (Irish for Spark), which is based on the values ​​of joy, community, diversity and sustainability. The world-famous parade featured more parades and more participants than ever before. Half a million spectators lined this year’s route and the parade included 18 parades and performances, 14 marching bands from across Ireland, North America and France and over 4,000 participants.

Dublin’s St. Patrick’s Day parade is undoubtedly the largest and most famous on the Emerald Isle, but parades and festivals can be found in most cities on the island of Ireland.

Armagh, Belfast, Cork, Derry-Londonderry, Killarney, Waterford, Kilkenny, Enniskillen and Sligo hosted St. Patrick’s festivals over the weekend. Highlights include a huge marching band jamboree Limerick, where bands from the USA delight the audience; a music course in the medieval city Kilkenny; Candlelight concerts in Killarney; a city run in Belfast and a ‘Sunrise with St Patrick’ event as part of Armaghs Home of St. Patrick Festivalthe ecclesiastical capital of Ireland, where St. Patrick began his mission.

St. Patrick’s Day is the highlight of the Irish events calendar, bringing the entire island to life with parades and music.
