Targeted police checks in Patras on the first day of the climax of the carnival events.
The General Regional Police Directorate of Western Greece and the Police Directorate of Achaia planned and took increased measures, at the peak of the carnival events in Patras, implementing special design, with the aim of providing essential police services to local communities.
More specifically, increased police measures were implemented and targeted controls were carried out, to prevent theft, drug trafficking and combat illegal trade, while at the same time, Traffic measures were taken on the National and Provincial network as well as in the urban centers, for the safe arrival and departure of visitors.
Specifically, the targeted police checks at the Achaia Police Directorate, yesterday 03-16-2024, the first day of the peak of the carnival events, in Patras, had the following results:
Checked: ( 1,052) people,
Brought: ( 124 ) people to the police services.
Checked: (650) vehicles
Arrested: ( 43 ) people, of which:
• (30) people for drug possession,
• (6) persons for outdoor trade without a license from a competent authority,
• (5) persons for violation of arms and flares laws
• (1) people for theft
• (1) person for violation of the Highway Traffic Code
Police checks and traffic regulations will continue today for the safe conduct of the Carnival in Patras.
