Life-Changing Selfie: Woman Discovers Brain Cancer After Taking Photo in NYC

It was a life-changing moment for Megan Troutwine, when she took a selfie outside Rockefeller Center in New York City. Little did she know that this simple act would lead her to a diagnosis of brain cancer. It all started when she noticed that her eyelid was drooping in the picture. Concerned, she mentioned it to her neurologist, who ordered an MRI scan. The scan revealed a benign mass inside her brain that was growing rapidly.

Troutwine underwent surgery to remove the tumor and later discovered that she had another primary brain tumor called a glioma. Her journey of treatment and recovery began at Tampa’s Moffitt Cancer Center. However, her struggle did not end there. She was also informed that she carries the PTEN gene mutation, which puts her at a higher risk for developing other cancers.

Throughout her challenging journey, Troutwine has met inspiring individuals and has been fortunate enough to receive support and care. She believes that her experience has given her a unique perspective, enabling her to help others going through similar situations. As a health unit coordinator at Moffitt, she assists people during one of the most difficult times in their lives.

Troutwine’s story recently came to light in a report by her local Fox station, shedding light on her resilience and determination.
