Passengers on a Flair Airlines flight scheduled to return to Ottawa Thursday evening remained stranded in Mexico following repeated flight cancellations by the Canadian airline.

The 180 unfortunate travelers, most of whom are Canadian, kept wandering between shuttles, gates and false starts before being escorted back to hotels with instructions to try once more the next day, CTV News reported.

“It takes us regarding an hour to board and then we sit on the plane for another hour and a half, two hours, all to be told that the navigation system still doesn’t work,” lamented Erika Carley, one of the passengers.

The company said the delays were caused by maintenance issues.

“We are working diligently to resolve this as quickly as possible,” said Vice President of Flight Operations Matt Kunz.

The company also confirmed that affected passengers had been offered alternatives such as hotel reservations or return tickets with other companies.

“They never offered to buy other tickets,” said another passenger.

On Saturday followingnoon, their flight was canceled once more, for the fourth time in a row.

“It’s ridiculous, we have a lot of kids on board,” Drew Cameron shouted from his seat. “Some are disabled, others have problems.”
