Moscow. March 16. INTERFAX.RU – The Satire Theater will close the play “Where are we?!…”, in which People’s Artist of the RSFSR, theater president Alexander Shirvindt, who died the day before, played, said the theater’s artistic director Sergei Gazarov.
“He played in one play – “Where are we?!…” Unfortunately, there will be no more play. Not because it is difficult to imagine someone instead of him, but because he ordered it so,” Gazarov told reporters .
Speaking regarding the upcoming performances in the theater, he said that they will not be cancelled.
“I would like to say a very important thing. I was wondering whether it is necessary to play plays these days. I realized that it is necessary. It is necessary, because this is his life. And we will play, we will definitely,” he added.
Shirvindt died at the age of 90 on Friday.
Alexander Shirvindt was born on July 19, 1934 in Moscow. Soviet and Russian actor, theater director, screenwriter, teacher, TV presenter, memoirist, artistic director of the Moscow Academic Satire Theater since 2000. Since 2021, he has served as president of the theater.
