The Higher School of Medicine of Mar del Plata continues to grow and expand its horizons, and this week signed an agreement with the Single Ablation and Implant Coordinating Center of the Province of Buenos Aires (Cucaiba) to promote organ donation and create instances of vocational training.

The Interinstitutional Collaboration agreement between both entities is part of the Provincial Organ Transplant Program to which the National University of Mar del Plata joins. Its objectives include: promoting the procurement of organs, tissues and cells, developing transplant services in public and private establishments throughout the province and guaranteeing access to transplantation for all Buenos Aires residents.

As of the agreement, the school is registered as a “Donor Institution”, which is used by the provincial body as a strategy to promote organ donation in each city, in addition to platelets, blood and plasma.

This registry is very beneficial for the city, since it promotes specific actions to educate promoters, as well as support for the training of health services technicians and professionals so that they expand their knowledge on the subject.

From Cucaiba they highlighted that the School of Medicine “has been developing tasks in a coordinated and active manner for some time with all sectors of civil society in public and private spheres in order to promote and channel solidarity efforts in order to contribute to those who need altruistic wills”, added to the various awareness campaigns and donation operations they carry out.

In addition, both institutions agreed that the school will provide physical spaces within the scope of its academic units and research and development institutes for the implementation of actions to promote the donation of organs, tissues and cells for transplant purposes, and the implementation of training days.

For its part, the organization will enrich students with teaching and workshops, provision of educational materials, organization of courses, seminars and conferences to expand knowledge regarding an action that saves millions of lives each year.
