With the expanded fleet, the DDSG Blue Danube will strengthen the tourist connection within the Vienna-Lower Austria metropolitan region with around four million inhabitants

Wolfgang Fischer, Managing Director, DDSG Blue Danube

Vienna (OTS/LCG) – DDSG Blue Danube managing director describes the positive followingeffects of the pandemic years Wolfgang Fischer During a panel discussion at the “Tourism Treff” at the holiday fair, which runs until Sunday, people’s increased interest in discovering their region. Short vacations in the surrounding area are not only becoming increasingly popular as an affordable break due to the persistently high inflation, but they also have a positive impact on the tourist climate balance due to the short travel distances and smart mobility concepts in the regions. Fischer sees inflation-related savings more in consumption than in travel and leisure behavior, as the multiple crises of recent years are raising awareness of quality time out. He classifies the resulting escapism as a sustainable trend from which the tourism industry will benefit. With the recent takeover of two new ships, Austria’s largest and most traditional inland shipping company is aiming for a new record of 400,000 passengers transported this year and will significantly expand its offering in the Wachau.

“Close collaboration with tourism associations and regional initiatives creates creative and networked concepts that strengthen added value in the region and enable a responsible leisure experience. With the enlarged fleet, the DDSG Blue Danube will strengthen the tourist connection within the metropolitan region of Vienna-Lower Austria with around four million inhabitants,” emphasizes Fischer.

For example, with the popular themed trips and special trips to the apricot blossom in the next few days, DDSG Blue Danube, which is owned by Wien Holding and VERKEHRSBUERO, is launching offers that allow local guests to experience the Danube in a new way. Through collaborations such as the upcoming “Wachau Gourmet Festival”, the shipping company would like to put together creative and attractive packages that encourage a longer stay in the Wachau.
