Sem van Duijn continues his career in professional football. The Quick Boys attacker has given his consent to Premier League side AZ, Voetbal International reported on Wednesday.
Van Duijn made his definitive breakthrough at Quick Boys this season and had no complaints regarding interest. Several professional football clubs were angling for his services, but Van Duijn’s choice has now fallen on AZ. An important consideration for the Katwijker is that the Alkmaarders have a promising team in the Kitchen Champion Division, so that he has the opportunity to grow to Eredivisie level.
The 19-year-old Van Duijn was briefly active for Sparta as a youth player, but otherwise always played in blue and white. He had his big breakthrough this season under coach Thomas Duivenvoorden, who gave him a permanent place as a left winger. Van Duijn paid off that trust in spades. He has scored fourteen times in competition so far.
Thriller in Alkmaar
Van Duijn also worked on customer loyalty in the KNVB Cup. He scored twice at Nieuw Zuid once morest De Graafschap (2-0) and – like all of Quick Boys – was very strong in the cup thriller once morest AZ. When visiting his new club, the Katwijk team lost on penalties, but received rave reviews for the game they played.
Former SV Hillegom coach Bas Naber works as a video analyst in Alkmaar. The North Hollander already told VIDB before the match once morest Quick Boys that he was deeply impressed by Van Duijn. Trainer Pascal Jansen, who was fired the next day, called the attacker a ‘very interesting player’ followingwards.
