South Korean Justice condemned an actor from “The Squid Game” for sexual harassment

Veteran actor O Yeong-su, who achieved global fame with his role in the Netflix series The squid gamewas sentenced this Friday, March 15, to a suspended sentence of eight months in prison for sexually harassing a woman in 2017.
The Suwon District Court (south of Seoul) considered that the victim’s story is consistent and therefore sentenced O Yeong-su to undergo a program for stalkers for 40 hours and imposed the prison sentence, which remains in Suspended for two years.
If during those two years O Yeong-su does not violate any law he will not have to go to prison.
The court assured in its ruling that what the victim reported “is not something that can be invented.”
O Yeong-su, 80, was charged in November 2022 for having hugged and kissed a woman on the cheek between August and September 2017 during a theater tour, for which the Prosecutor’s Office requested a year in prison.

The interpreter, who has denied the charges from the beginning, said when leaving the court that he will appeal the verdict issued this Friday, March 15.
O Yeong-su, who won the Golden Globe in 2022 for best supporting actor for his role as player 001 in The squid gamebegan his career in acting in the sixties, mainly in theater, where he has worked in hundreds of works of classical Korean and Western theater.

He later joined the Korean National Theater Company before having specific roles in film or television.
