The biggest volleyball competition in Indonesia, Proliga 2024, has a new team in the women’s sector, namely Jakarta Livin’ Mandiri (JLM), which was formed by Bank Mandiri. The formation of the team and JLM’s participation is part of the company’s enthusiasm and commitment to advancing the sport of volleyball in the country.

In preparation for the competition, JLM held an exhibition match with the Mandiri Volleyball Club team at GOR Bulungan, Jakarta, Friday (8/3).

“Through this match, we want to show that Bank Mandiri is not only focused on achievements in the financial sector, but also actively contributes to the development of sports and young Indonesian talent,” said Bank Mandiri Director of Compliance and Human Resources and team manager Agus Dwi Handaya.

The official launch of JLM will be held following Eid al-Fitr 2024 while waiting for the presence of foreign players who will join.

The formation of JLM was planned as a talent center for Indonesian women’s volleyball players by developing young players. Apart from that, the team formation initiative is also in order to increase the penetration of Livin Bank Mandiri services in the Indonesian volleyball community.

Agus said that his party also took the opportunity to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle among employees and the wider community.

“We also believe, through sport, we can inspire and motivate many people to achieve higher achievements in any field, for Indonesia,” he said.

Former Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali was appointed as the supervisor of JLM. Amali said that JLM’s presence was also to look for players who were expected to be able to strengthen the Indonesian women’s national volleyball team.

The majority of JLM players will be young players and two additional foreign athletes, which is one of the 2024 Proliga regulations.

“We want to participate in Proliga because we see that we have talent, we have ability, but we don’t have a club yet this year. Then the initiative to form this team emerged,” said Amali. (RO/Z-11)
