A little before the climax of the last three days of the Patrinos Carnival, on Thursday March 14, Agyia and the Southern Department are coordinating in parade rhythm, warming up the carnival thermometer.
In Agyia
“I met you on the beach… pay for a massage” is the title of the 4th regional parade organized by the Cultural Association of Agia – Terpsithea on Thursday 14 March at 19.00 with the support of KEDIP – Patras Carnival, the Parents & Guardians Associations of the area and other sports bodies.
The starting point is the Greek Writers’ Square (Kazantzaki).
The theme of the parade scorches the issue of the methodical privatization of the Plaz beach and in general of public shared recreational spaces, under the pretext of “chasing” development through the projection of a false beautified image with luxuries. So, we dress up as masseuses, sunbathing divas, coin-operated showers, cocktails with a view… wind turbines! We wear life jackets and swimsuits. We keep buoys in hand, buckets and other more lavish “development” items.
The percussion band “Ritmo Loco” will participate in the parade, as the X-Saltibagos circus group will make a surprise appearance!
The detailed program is as follows:
18.30: Gathering of participants and organizations in the square of Greek Poets (Kazantzakis)
19.00: Start of the carnival parade through Kazantzakis and Notara streets, accompanied by a musical float, an illuminated float and a… mega boat!
20.00: End of carnival parade in De Miranda Square (Panachaikis), with free photos at photo booths and treats.
The organization is supported by the Associations of Parents & Guardians of the schools in the area: 16th, 35th, 48th, 49th and 64th Primary, 21st and 13th High School, 9th High School.
In the South Apartment
At the same time, as part of the program of events of the Patrinos Carnival 2024, on Thursday, March 14 at 18.30 in the South Apartment, a carnival parade will take place with the theme “Carnival in the South!”.
The parade will start from the junction of St. I. Pratsika and El. Venizelos and passing through the streets of the Ag. I. Pratsika, Antheias, Evia, Miletos will end up at Taraboura Square in the Workers’ Housing.
The disguised parade will be flanked by 12 primary schools – Parents’ and Guardians’ Associations of the Southern District, the Cultural Associations of Terpsis, Taraboura, Agios Nikolaos Lefkas and the Pan-Asian Association of Patras and Surroundings. They will be accompanied by a Children’s Carnival float and the Musical Float setting the pace of the fun.
At the end of the parade there will be a feast and dance and traditional events will unfold.
