The government representative spoke regarding the issue that has erupted between the government and SYRIZA regarding the professional activities of the president of the official opposition Pavlos Marinakis accusing Stefanos Kasselakis of “repeatedly changing positions depending on what is in his best interest.”
In particular, speaking to SKAI regarding the professional activities of Mr. Kasselakis, the government representative commented “Mr. Kasselakis consciously forgets that the issue of his business activities was not brought by the prime minister and the government but by the director of his party, so that he does not sacrifice himself. I pointed out yesterday that he is not an internet influencer, he is the president of the official opposition. Well, this country has some laws, one of which prohibits the participation of the president of the official opposition once he is elected, not when he files his petition but in a period of sixty days to take the necessary actions. Justice will evaluate what Mr. Kasselakis has done.”
He added “if you compare what he said yesterday with what he said on March 1st in his interview, you will understand that he is changing his position like his predecessor based on what is in his best interests. Let him be careful every time what he says and consult a lawyer because it burdens his position, said the government representative, noting that other questions arise: “are there other companies? who lent the means to SYRIZA in December? Has he made the moves within the reasonable time frame?’
“History repeats itself as a farce”
The government representative also criticized the economic program announced on Tuesday night by Mr. Kasselakis, saying that “a title fits: History repeats itself as a farce”.
“He takes over the baton of welfare from Mr. Tsipras. Doing economic policy is not Monopoly, and I can take out a piece of paper and put in numbers. From Mr. Tsipras to Mr. Kasselakis, the harsh reality that demolishes populism has intervened. From Mr. Tsipras to Mr. Kasselakis, two governments mediated. SYRIZA came to power with similar or identical promises saying, among other things, that we will take the money from big business to give it to the weakest. Instead, he went ahead with an increase in tax rates, they left unemployment 8 points higher than today and a country with a 650 euro minimum wage.”
As he said, “Mr. Tsipras did not learn regarding the crisis before he became prime minister, he knew the conditions under which he wrote his program. There are also times when crises come and a reliable government is needed. All those billions that came into the country would not have come to the state that the country was in in 2015 with a garbage economy.”
