As soon as the gate opened, the “open house” morning promised to be highly anticipated. Many parents, grandparents but also elderly villagers, former students and residents of surrounding communities paraded through the school grounds. Thierry Dufour, the mayor, surrounded by elected officials who supported and followed the construction of the school, guided the visitors.
During the visit, the curious wandered through the rooms listening to the information on the financing subsidized at 60% by the State, the Department and the Region. The emphasis was placed on the energy level, the heating is geothermal, photovoltaic panels for self-consumption, skylights to bring natural light into each classroom coupled with LED lighting. The seven spacious rooms are identical in size and layout. An office is dedicated to the director, and a room for teachers. The roof will be green to cool in addition to the geothermal system. The concrete cap allows sheltered exterior circulation, without sunlight on the windows. To the detriment of the exterior appearance, which will be developed soon, security is reinforced by the absence of windows on the exterior, with an intrusion alert and an alarm. The second phase will offer two additional classes, a large playground, a multipurpose room, a vegetable garden, and a multi-sports field in the playground. The second phase is under construction until the end of 2024. Visitors appreciated the visit, the quality and the architecture of the building, and their questions did not go unanswered.
