SIC arrests social activist and wife for alleged drug trafficking – Jornal OPaís

Social activist António Canquienze António, aged 46, and his wife, Antónia Francisca João Zuluca, aged 31, were arrested last weekend, in the Ritondo neighborhood, in Malanje, by the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) , for allegedly trafficking 37 kilograms of cannabis sativa, aka liamba

The head of Institutional Communication and Press at SIC in Malanje, chief inspector Augusto Barros André, told the press yesterday that the arrest was part of actions to combat drug trafficking, carried out by staff from this body.

“The aforementioned citizens were detained as part of the confrontation work carried out by personnel assigned to the SIC, in coordination with the National Police, embodied in the Combat once morest Drug Trafficking”, he detailed. According to the senior officer, who provided this information when taking stock of the weekend’s events, the 37,800 kg of drugs were concealed in nine plastic bags and were destined for the country’s capital. There was also a raffia bag containing mothballs to supposedly prevent pollution.

On the other hand, Augusto André announced the arrest of a 39-year-old national citizen, accused of having intentionally infected his girlfriend with HIV-AIDS. The official said that those involved will be referred to the Public Ministry for criminal liability. Augusto André guaranteed that the citizens in question will be presented to the Public Ministry, for further procedural steps.
