Japanese POLICE in the Isesaki area arrested four Indonesian citizens (WNI). They violate overstaying or have expired residence permits and drive vehicles without a driving license (SIM).

Of the four, one has legal status and the other three are overstayers or their residence permits have expired.

“Currently the investigation process is still ongoing,” said Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens and Indonesian Legal Entities (PWNI and BHI) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Judha Nugraha, in a written statement on Sunday (10/3).

Apart from the four Indonesian citizens, he said, several other Indonesian citizens had also been arrested in connection with the same case. However, they asked the police not to inform the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo regarding their case.

Since the beginning of this case, explained Judha, the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo has continued to monitor developments in the case and is ready to provide legal assistance. Last February, an Indonesian citizen was arrested by Japanese police on suspicion of registering a car by falsifying the ownership identity.

According to local Japanese media reports and quoted by the Instagram account kensyu_hits, Wednesday (28/3), the Foreign Affairs Division of the Gunma Prefectural Police and Isesaki Police have arrested a 45 year old Indonesian citizen who is an employee of a company from Sano City, Tochigi Prefecture.

The arrest was based on suspicion of fraudulent recording practices and distribution of original electronic notarized documents regarding car ownership. Japanese media did not mention the initials of the Indonesian citizen. (Z-)8
