Pertacami Officially Becomes a Member of KOI, Ready to Make Indonesia Famous on the World Stage – 2024-03-13 21:21:11

The Executive Board of the Indonesian Mixed Fighting Association (Pertacami) was officially accepted as a member of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI), as of March 8 2024. This ratification was carried out through a general meeting of KOI Members, confirming Pertacami’s status as an integral part of the Indonesian sports community.

“We are very proud and grateful for PB Pertacami’s acceptance as a KOI member. This is a historic moment for us in the journey of mixed fighting sports in Indonesia,” said PB Pertacami General Chair Tommy Paulus Hermawan in a written statement, Saturday (9/3).

By joining Pertacami as a member of KOI, it is hoped that free fighting sports will receive more attention and support in Indonesia. Pertacami is committed to continuing to develop and advance this sport, as well as providing wider opportunities for athletes to achieve brilliant achievements at national and international levels.

“This membership is not only regarding recognition, but also a greater responsibility to continue to develop this sport and bring Indonesia’s achievements to the international stage. We are committed to working hard and collaborating with KOI and all other stakeholders to achieve this goal,” he added.

On the same occasion, KOI Chairman Raja Sapta Oktohari expressed his warm welcome to PB Pertacami.

“We are pleased to welcome PB Pertacami as an official member of KOI. The existence of Pertacami will enrich the variety of sports under the auspices of KOI, especially martial arts sports in Indonesia. We hope that the close collaboration between KOI and PB Pertacami will bring brilliant achievements to “Indonesian athletes at national and international levels,” he said.

In December 2023, Pertacami sent six of the best athletes to compete in the world event, namely the GAMMA World MMA Championship 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand. With courage and dedication, Pertacami athletes succeeded in achieving brilliant achievements.

Viona Amallia Adinda Putri won a gold medal in the 47.6 KG class in the female Striking MMA number. Then, Toni Kristian Hutapea won a silver medal in the 52.2 kg Men Elite Striking MMA class.

Currently, PB Pertacami is preparing to host the 4th GAMMA World MMA Championships U18 & Senior 2024 which is planned to be held in December 2024. (RO/Z-11)
