The Corruption Eradication COMMISSION (KPK) assesses the phenomenon of legislative candidates taking assistance, as well as dawn attacks following losing, as transactional effects in voting.
“Well, the consequence was, if it was transactional, he didn’t choose it, he took it once more, right? Yes, society too because there are already transactions like that, right? Protest how?” said KPK Deputy for Education and Community Participation Wawan Wardiana in Jakarta, Sunday (10/3).
Wawan said that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) had been reminding the public to reject the dawn attacks for a long time. This appeal was echoed because it was dangerous for the residents themselves.
“Well, at that time we already told you regarding it in the form of outreach and campaigns. “Don’t want to be given anything that is related to the election, ‘here, I’ll give you this, but please vote for me,’ don’t want to be like that,” explained Wawan.
It is also felt that the community has no place to complain if a legislative candidate returns to ask for the dawn attack that was previously granted. It is also said that legislative candidates who take back their assistance have proven their true attitude, which is believed to be seeking votes, not to help the community.
“If you really have good intentions, if you want to be whatever you want, if you want to be a member of the legislature, if you want to be a regional head, etc., if your intentions are good to help the community, there should be no more transactions like before,” said Wawan.
Even so, Wawan said that not all legislative candidates gave funds to the community as a form of dawn attack. According to him, there are also those who intend to help.
“There are also some places that give something, but they don’t leave anything, right? If you give something without leaving it, you have to choose me, what should I do, maybe that’s actually a good thing, I want to help the community in any form,” said Wawan. (Z-3)
