With the aim of reaching the podium, the national fighting teams, for both sexes, are already in the city of Alexandria, Egypt, the stage for the African Championship, which will be held from the 14th to the 19th of this month.
For the undertaking, the Angolan team headed to Egypt, with 13 fighters, 11 male and three female, with the mission of improving the eight medals from the last edition, in Tunisia, of which one gold, four silver and three bronze.
The vice-president of the Angolan Federation of Fights and Associates (FALUTAS), António Vemba, told the press that the selection will be made up of 15 athletes, highly motivated to compete for the country’s purpose.
António Vemba added that the other two fighters will meet the group in Egypt, as they are competing in the African Games, in Accra, Ghana, where they will leave for the other continental event.
The official reiterated that Angola is not just going to participate, but rather compete and obtain the greatest number of gold medals, as the objective is to improve on the achievements of the last edition and stay on the podium.
He also informed that in Alexandria, Egypt, from the 24th to the 26th of this month, the country will also participate in the qualifying tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, in France, with 10 male and two (2) female fighters.
For this event, António Vemba admitted that his aim is to qualify one or two athletes, for the first time, for the Olympic Games.
