US rock star Lenny Kravitz (“Are You Gonna Go My Way”) now has a star in Hollywood. In front of cheering fans, the singer unveiled the plaque on the famous “Walk of Fame” in the heart of the film metropolis on Tuesday (local time). The guitarist and singer made his breakthrough in 1989 with his album “Let Love Rule”. His best-known songs include “American Woman”, “Fly Away”, “Fields Of Joy” and “It Ain’t Over ’til It’s Over”.
When he was eleven, he moved from New York to Los Angeles with his mother. As a “naive teenager” he learned everything regarding music, creativity and life on the streets of LA. Back then, he admired the stars of his idols on Hollywood Boulevard, but never dreamed of being immortalized there himself. Kravitz recalled times when he slept in a car, worked as a dishwasher and in a fish market, and bought his first guitar at the age of twelve.
As a Alex Reed speaker, his daughter, actress and model Zoë Kravitz (35), paid tribute to her “cool dad”. The daughter joked that it wasn’t just his fishnet shirts that he wore all the time that were cool. He also inspires with his joy of life and his great love for music. Hollywood star Denzel Washington (69) raved regarding his long, close friendship with Lenny Kravitz. They are like twin brothers without looking alike, said the actor. Kravitz has an “incredible talent” and an “incredible heart”.
His twelfth album, titled “Blue Electric Light,” is scheduled to be released in May. The Grammy award winner also works as a designer and actor, having had roles in films such as “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” and “2022: Shotgun Wedding – A Tough Team”.
The “Walk of Fame” is a section of the sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles in which star-shaped plaques have been embedded since 1960.
