Vice President Victoria Villarruel will call a special session in the Senate to discuss this Thursday the mega Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) signed by President Javier Milei, which deregulates the economy and modifies more than 300 laws. The decision occurred in the midst of the discussion of the regulations in the Bicameral Commission for Legislative Procedure, which aims to study it and rule favorably, or not, on it.
At the initiative of the official, This Wednesday at 6 p.m. a parliamentary work meeting will take place to outline, among other things, the debate on the mega-decree, as reported to the agency Argentine News sources close to the head of the upper house. In that sense, it is expected that the call will be made official in the next few hours or following said meeting.

For several weeks, Villarruel avoided requests from the Unión por la Patria (UxP) bloc, led by José Mayans, and from other federal blocs, including a radical one, for the DNU to land in the senatorial chamber. La Libertad Avanza (LLA) sought to take the discussion of the DNU to the bicameral Legislative Procedure, which was formed three weeks ago following Martin Menem present the names of the deputies designated for that body. Then, The ruling party, in tandem with the PRO, tried to extend the discussion in the commission summoning Executive officials to explain the terms of the decree.
However, the president of the bicameral, Juan Carlos Pagotto, national senator of LLA, postponed the summons of the officials following the presentation of a note from the PRO and the UCR where they asked that the decrees be treated chronologically, starting with those that had remained from Alberto Fernández’s management.
Since the officials did not attend the meeting, they were summoned once more. However, Villarruel went ahead and decided to grant the opposition’s request for the decree to be discussed in the chamber.
