Michael Edwards Appointed CEO of Football Operations for Fenway Sports Group and Liverpool

Michael Edwards, the former Liverpool executive, has been appointed to a senior role with Fenway Sports Group (FSG), which oversees the club’s football operations. Edwards’ appointment as CEO of football for the Boston-based investment group has now been confirmed.

FSG president Mike Gordon expressed his excitement regarding securing Edwards’ services, stating that he is one of the most formidable executive talents in world football. Liverpool is currently undergoing a major transition following manager Jurgen Klopp’s decision to step aside this summer. Edwards’ appointment is expected to play a vital role in shaping the club’s future.

Edwards, who spent over 10 years at Liverpool, played a major role in the club’s success, including winning the Premier League and Champions League. He was responsible for assembling the team that achieved these victories, bringing in key signings such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Alisson, and Virgil van Dijk. Edwards also identified Klopp as the replacement for Brendan Rodgers in 2015.
