Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are now able to recognize landmarks. Through the new beta update, the smart glasses have gained multimedia artificial intelligence capabilities, and they recognize landmarks and describe them, making them work as a tour guide for travelers.

Mark Zuckerberg said on the “Meta” channel on “Instagram”: “The new multimedia AI feature in the beta version of the Meta Ray N glasses identifies landmarks and may tell you regarding them. Users can take a look at the landmark and request additional details regarding it with the push of a button.”

Meta previewed the feature at last year’s Connect event as part of its multimedia AI capabilities that allow it to answer questions based on your environment.

Meta is constantly adding new artificial intelligence capabilities to its smart glasses, and last year, AI-powered visual search features arrived in smart glasses for object recognition.

These features are currently limited to the United States, and are still in the beta phase. You must participate in the Early Access program to experience the new features, including the ability to recognize landmarks and monuments.

The company will launch the second generation of its smart glasses in 2023 with many different custom frames and customizable lens options.

The updated version of Ray-Ban Mita smart glasses provides features, such as improved speaker performance and an updated camera with a 12-megapixel sensor, and is supported by the “Snapdragon AR1 Gen1” platform from “Qualcomm”, which processes sound, images and video clips.

Compared to the first generation, the second generation is thinner and lighter and can provide up to 36 hours of battery life with the carrying case. These smart glasses also allow users to broadcast live via platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
