CeramicSpeed officially launches the OSPW-RS derailleur cage, whose weight is equivalent to that of current productions. Thought for agreatly improve the performance of the transmission, said screed presents itself as a summary of technology(s). Resolutely positioned in the premium segment, it is primarily aimed at – wealthy – competitors looking to optimize performance. His price ? From €529 to €579.
The Dane CeramisSpeed has made a name for itself by producing very high quality bottom brackets and bearings, but also derailleur cages with oversized casters. Today, the manufacturer offers the OSPW-RS, a brand new derailleur cage (rear), compatible with all models on the market. Equipped with innovative technologies (aluminum flange, on the casters; ceramic bearing protection system, once morest external aggression)…, it presents itself as a premium performance tool. Is its price, from €529 to €579, justified?

Performance in objective(s)
Available in two versions, this CeramicSpeed OSPW-RS screed, with oversized rollers, is available in Active Debris Remover (ADR) or 5 Spokes (Five spokes) and Alpha Disc versions, which results in the existence of two types of rollers, for two different prices.
The common point between the two screed models lies in the adoption of specific reinforcement. It is, in fact, regarding offering robustness and rigidity. This should result in – sharply – increased durability, as well as optimal gear change precision.

The two variants
At the “entry level”, the ADR (Active Debris Remover, for active debris removal) or 5 Spokes version costs €529. It is distinguished by the presence of oversized rollers, protected by a sort of dust cap. Debris and road dirt (especially in wet weather) should therefore not impact performance, especially since a grooved structure acts as a debris extractor during pedaling.
At the “top of the range”, the Alpha Disc version is characterized by its full side. Priced at €579, it is optimized for the SRAM Eagle transmission, via the OSPW-X system. The construction is presented in two parts. A separate tooth profile (narrow and wide), made from a composite material, provides prolonged protection once morest wear coupled with noise reduction.
Note that on this Alpha Disc version, which is ideal for gravel use, a solid aluminum disc should eliminate the possibility of foreign bodies getting stuck in the derailleur. In addition, according to CeramicSpeed, this helps provide strength and rigidity to the derailleur pulley.

A question of compatibility
These two versions of CeramicSpeed OSPW-RS derailleur cages are intended to be compatible with a maximum 36 tooth sprocket. At Shimano, the Dura-Ace, Ultegra and 105 groupsets are affected, while at SRAM, only the Red and Forces groupsets are found to be compatible. A priori, Campagnolo has been forgotten…
In terms of colors, the choice is – rather – large. Indeed, the ADR version is available in black, red, blue or gold. The Alpha Disc version is available in black and team black… The spirit is not the same.
Note that several roller teeth are available. For Shimano, there is a choice of 13 and 19 teeth. For SRAM, there are 15 or 19 teeth… A priori, the 19 teeth should be unanimous or almost unanimous!
