Petro beats Wiliete at Ombaka Stadium – Jornal OPaís

In the right step for the fourteenth round of Girabola 2023/2024, Petro de Luanda won away from home yesterday. At the Ombaka Stadium, in the province of Benguela, the tricolor team left Wiliete, ranked sixth with eighteen points, on the way. Two unanswered balls was the result in favor of the oil emblem, which remains in second place with thirty-one points, one less than leader Desportivo da Lunda-Sul. The athlete from the Luanda team, Jared, was the only service scorer at 28 and 45+1 minutes of the first half. In the initial minutes, Petro had some difficulties imposing itself, because the opponent approached its game better.

Because of this, coach Alexandre Santos made some changes to his squad, changing the attack with short and objective plays. On the home team’s side, the reaction came late from coach Silvestre Pelé’s bench who, following the goal conceded, also reacted in attack. When the match resumed, both teams were more focused on offensive play, but Petro, with an advantage, managed the result better. Even so, José Chitumba’s refereeing was highly contested, as both parties on the field allegedly turned a blind eye to many moves.

At the end, Wiliete’s athletes left with their heads held high and claimed that in the second round of the National Championship things will be better. In this match, the Catetão club’s striker, Thiago Azulão, did not score and therefore must work to return to goals in the second round, just like in the African Champions Clubs League.
