Member of the Political Bureau of the Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG), former ruling party in leadership crisis, Master Francis Nkea, in a press conference held Monday March 11, 2024 in Libreville, denounced and vehemently condemned the appointment of the new board of the party which, for him, suffers from notorious illegitimacy.

“The party itself, through its statutes, has provided for the designation of those responsible through a congress of activists; having not done so, we believe that the party statutes have been violated, this is irresponsible behavior”observed Mr. Nkea.

On March 7, there was a reorganization of the CEO’s organization chart. It was during a joint meeting attended by some members of the Executive Secretariat, the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau and those of the Council of Elders of the party

At the end of the said meeting, Master Francis Nkea said he was surprised that the interim Secretary General of the CEO, Luc Oyoubi announced once morest all expectations, the appointment of new party leaders, and the dismissal of the president of the political party, Ali Bongo Ondimba .

The members of the CEO’s new provisional board include Paul Biyoghe Mba (1is vice-president), Alain Claude Bilie By Nze (2e vice-president), Jeannont Kalima (3e vice-president) and Yves Fernand Manfoumbi (4th vice-president).

For the legal activist, this designation did not respect the provisions of the party’s statutes, even if the reasons given remain the unavailability of “Distinguished Comrade President Ali Bongo Ondimba”, weakened by illness.

In the event of Ali Bongo Ondimba’s unavailability, the congress may be convened in extraordinary session, states article 31 of the statutes, “at the request of 2/3 of the members of the political bureau or at the request of 2/3 of the members of the National Council.

“This is why I saw myself obliged as an activist to request the annulment of this decision of March 7, 2024, which contributes to the violation of the statutes of the CEO and seriously harms my interests,” a- he said, also indicating that he had referred the matter to the Constitutional Court as guarantor of fundamental human rights and political freedoms.

In his request, Me Francis Nkea asked the judge to issue an order “before ruling” immediately suspending “the execution of this decision of March 7, 2024 relating to the new organizational chart” of the CEO.
