The stage for the second stage of the Tour de Taiwan (UCI2.1) is a total distance of 115.55km from Taoyuan City Government in the north to Jiaobanshan Park. With approximately 28km and 17km remaining, and a second-class mountain at the finish point, this is a familiar mountain stage, giving even punchers with climbing ability a chance. Proton departed from Taoyuan City under cloudy skies, except for Kosuke Takeyama (Utsunomiya Blitzen) and others who retired yesterday following crashing.
On this day, two players, including Lu Xiaoxuan (Taiwan, Taiwan National Team), who participated in the J Pro Tour as a member of the Brighton Racing Team in 2023, were eliminated, and Israel Premier Tech, led by overall leader Itamar Einhorn (Israel), gave a time difference of 2 minutes + α and controlled the situation. The group became active as they entered a mountainous section covered in rain, and the two members of the fleeing group were pulled back by this flow.

JCL Team Ukyo and other teams aggressively attacked, but with no success, Mason Hollyman (UK, Israel Premier Tech) attacked with less than 3km remaining. He tore through the trailing riders and headed for the summit with Ivan Cobo (Spain, Equipo Cologne Farma), the only person with whom he had a bridge.
Hollyman took the lead in the final stretch of wet technical corners. He took the lead in the corner braking battle and won with a powerful sprint. The 23-year-old climber scored a big victory in 2022 when he won a stage at the Giro della Valle d’Aosta, a gateway race. It was his second consecutive win over Israel following the previous day, and he achieved a 1-3 finish with Joseph Blackmore (GB) taking 3rd place on the stage.

“We were preparing for last year’s stage and knew that if we attacked in the last 20 seconds of the last uphill section, we might gain two seconds before the technical corner and win. The team took control all day. “It’s a great victory. We were able to give them the best present,” said Hollyman, who was successful in the intra-team relay for the leader’s jersey.
