Saudi Arabia’s KING Salman in his message ahead of Ramadan called on the international community to end the “heinous crimes” taking place in Gaza, where war between Israel and Hamas has been going on for more than five months.

Speaking as the custodian of the two holiest sites in Islam, King Salman thanked on Sunday for the “blessings given to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia”, but noted the war in besieged Gaza would be a shadow during the holy month of fasting and prayer.

“As we welcome the arrival of Ramadan this year, our hearts are filled with sorrow for the continued suffering of our Palestinian brothers and sisters who face relentless aggression,” he said.

“We urge the international community to fulfill its responsibility to end this heinous crime and ensure the establishment of safe humanitarian and aid corridors.”

Gaza is experiencing a widespread humanitarian crisis following months of war sparked by Hamas’ unprecedented Oct. 7 attack on Israel.

Aid groups say only a fraction of the supplies needed to meet basic humanitarian needs have been allowed into the region following Israel threw it into a near-total siege. (AFP/Z-3)
