World news Dmitry Peskov

On Monday, the Kremlin spokesman refused to comment on reports of the dismissal of a prominent Russian military commander.
Two Russian media outlets reported on the dismissal of Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, Commander of the Russian Fleet.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov merely pointed out that some of the decrees are “secret” and therefore cannot be commented on.
This comes the day following the Russian media outlets “Fontanka” and “Izvestia” announced the dismissal of Evmenov and his replacement with Alexander Moiseev, who until now had been in command of the Northern Fleet.
In his response to journalists regarding this information, Peskov said, “There are decrees that are classified as secret. I cannot comment on them. No public decrees have been issued on this subject.”
The dismissal, if confirmed, would constitute a major reshuffle within the Russian military leadership.
Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, 61, has commanded the entire Russian fleet since May 2019, according to his official biography. Before that, he held the position of Commander of the Northern Fleet.
From time to time, the Crimean Peninsula is subjected to air and sea attacks with Ukrainian drones and missiles, due to its importance for the logistical support operations of the Russian forces.
For example, the Ukrainian Navy announced, in early March, that a special unit destroyed “the newest Russian naval patrol ship, the Sergei Kotov,” by means of drones near the Kerch Strait, which connects the Crimean Peninsula to Russia.
Ukrainian military intelligence published a black-and-white video clip that it said was of the night attack. The tape shows a naval drone approaching the Russian ship, which is 94 meters long, before an explosion occurs, causing a large ball of flame, followed by smoke rising and fragments flying at a high altitude.
