MEMBER of Commission V DPR RI Suryadi Jaya Purnama asked all airlines in the country to implement the safety recommendations of the National Transportation Safety Committee regarding the completeness of more detailed guidelines and procedures for assessing the condition of pilots when flying.
“This KNKT recommendation will immediately be implemented not only by Batik Air, but also all other airlines that have not completed the guidelines,” said Suryadi in a statement received in Jakarta, Sunday (10/3).
This was conveyed by Suryadi in response to the incident between the pilot and co-pilot of the Airbus A320 aircraft for Batik Air on the Kendari-Jakarta route who fell asleep during the flight.
He also asked the Ministry of Transportation to be more active in checking the completeness of the existing guidelines for each airline so that no important guidelines are missed.
“If there are important guidelines that have not been implemented, there should be sanctions given to airlines to immediately complete all the necessary guidelines so that this incident does not happen once more,” he said.
Apart from that, Suryadi asked that the two pilots and co-pilot in the Batik Air flight incident which occurred on January 25 2024 be dealt with firmly because they endangered the safety of passengers.
