“The Europa League comes at a good time for us”

Marcelino has predicted an attractive and very competitive tie once morest Olympique de Marseille

Villarreal CF coach, Marcelino García Toral, appeared this Wednesday before the media at the Olympique de Marseille Vélodrome Stadium. Accompanied by Gerard Moreno, the Asturian coach has analyzed the preview of the first leg of the round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League, which will pit his team once morest the French team.

“The team is doing well. We have been competing well for several weeks now and playing good games. Now, in addition, we are getting good results,” Marcelino recalled in reference to the good dynamics of the Submarine in the league championship.

In the same way, the yellow coach has expressed his satisfaction at playing this type of continental tie with Villarreal: “On top of that, now we come to this great stage to face a beautiful tie once morest a great rival. “We are conscious of being in this situation in which we are facing such a beautiful and at the same time important duel.”

For Marcelino, Olympique de Marseille is an ‘old’ acquaintance. Circumstance that he believes will not affect the tie: “It will not affect the fact that I have coached Marseille this season. Other coaches have already passed and the current one has been there for very little. I don’t think the fact that he knows the team is going to be very important. What we do have is a lot of enthusiasm and hope to face the game. We face a great club and I think the tie is going to be very attractive.”

Along the same lines, the Groguet coach points out that it will be a very competitive duel: “When I saw the draw I thought it would be a nice tie, between two teams of very good level, competitive and that everything will be very nice. When I arrived here I would have liked to fulfill the contract we signed, different circumstances prevented it and now we only have to think regarding the present. The past are lived experiences and from which we must learn. Now it’s time to focus on enjoying the duel once morest a great team and enjoying the stage where we are going to face each other.”
