One day before the deadline, the Health Superintendency delivered this Wednesday the results of the verification of the increases initially requested by nine of the 10 open and closed isapres for this year.
According to Radio Cooperativa, in short, the average increase in the industry will be 4.4% and only three of the open insurers – Cruz Blanca, ConSalud and Nueva Masvida – will raise the rates of their base plans to the maximum of 7 .4% set for this year by the Health Cost Index (ICSA).
In a press conference, the Superintendent of Health, Víctor Torres, highlighted that there was practically no variation between the information declared by the isapres and that verified by the entity.
This is because the information handled by the regulator is delivered monthly by the insurers themselves, so no big surprises were expected in this area.
“Once this verification process is carried out, the Isapres have between March 1 and 10 to notify members, by email or certified letter, of the increase they will apply,” Torres pointed out.
Meanwhile, “people, for their part, have until May 31 to request a change of plan equivalent to the base price they had before the adaptation, to be able to terminate the contract by signing a letter of that affiliation to the isapre u oppose by filing a claim with the Health Superintendency,” he explained.
Among the other open Isapres, the new Esencial will increase its plans by 3.9% (it requested that percentage even though it might have aspired to the maximum), Vida Tres by 2.5%, Colmena by 2.4% and Banmédica 0.6 % (had asked for 2.3%).
Of the closed insurers, Cruz de Norte and Fundación, from BancoEstado, will not make increases. The only one in this group that will raise its plans is Isalud, from Codelco, which will do so to the maximum, 7.4%.
The increase will be applied from March.
