MORE than 1,600 prisoners received special remission (RK) to commemorate Nyepi Day 2024.
“1,642 Hindu prisoners received RK Nyepi 2024,” said Head of the Public Relations Working Group of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Deddy Eduar Eka Saputra, to journalists, Monday (11/3).
Deddy detailed that 1,636 received RK I or a partial reduction in sentence. Meanwhile, six other people received RK II or were immediately released.
“This figure is the number of inmates or prisoners throughout Indonesia,” he explained.
Deddi said there were assisted children who received a reduced sentence (PMP) specifically for Nyepi 2024. There were eight people, seven of whom received PMP I or a partial reduction and one person received PMP II or was immediately released.
“They came from the Regional Office (Kanwil) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in Bali, four people, two people from South Sumatra, one person each from East Java and Southeast Sulawesi,” he said.
Deddy said that the Bali Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights donated prisoners. The 2024 RK Nyepi recipients reached 1,193 people.
“Followed by Central Kalimantan with 99 people and West Nusa Tenggara with 74 people,” he explained. (Z-3)
