Enah… an ordained deacon, 12 years a priest in London, with a degree in medicine, a… “magician” from Gaza and a former player of “My Style Rocks”. This is the 62-year-old leader of the Criminal Fuel Counterfeiting Organization who was dismantled by the Finance Directorate Police, the 65-year-old manufacturer of chemical solvents and a 27-year-old employee at a “collaborating” gas station, who were arrested last Tuesday morning, along with 17 other members of the ring. 6 gas stations with adulterated and contraband fuel were identified, while the evaded taxes from the illegal activity exceed 1,200,000 euros.

The police officers are examining whether unseen protagonists of the criminal organization are relatives of a leading member of the Greek Mafia, who was murdered in May 2022 in Skourta Boeotia. An ethyl alcohol truck park in Aspropyrgos, which was checked as part of the investigation, was previously linked to the relatives of the Greek Mafia member. In fact, following his murder, this area had become the target of the cigarette mafia that was hiding behind the crime. At that time, the perpetrators had also burned two trucks containing contraband cigarette manufacturing machines.

The paint company didn’t… sell paint. The above absence of… commercial activity was found by the officers of the Economic Police Directorate, in the context of the investigations for the dismantling of the criminal organization. Its 65-year-old owner had acquired the nickname… “Magos” from Gaza, as he legally imported raw materials into Greece, supposedly for the needs of the business, which he used for the illegal manufacture of chemical solvents with the aim of adulterating fuel.

It is estimated that every week, at the company’s facilities, at least 100 tons of chemical solvents were prepared, which ended up in tankers at the Aspropyrgos facilities, which were the headquarters of the criminal organization. From there, following being used to adulterate fuel, they ended up at at least six cooperating gas stations.

From Bulgaria

After his arrest, the 62-year-old leader of the criminal organization presented himself to the police as an ordained deacon in an Orthodox monastery in Bulgaria, a medical graduate and a priest in London for 12 years. He had set up three separate sub-groups, which were tasked with searching for storage areas, trucks, chemical solvents and raw materials for their manufacture, importing them into Greece, in cooperation with members of the ring in Bulgaria, and supervising the production and transportation process their. At the same time, the same organization, through these sub-groups, had also undertaken the supply and distribution of smuggled ethyl alcohol to businesses selling alcoholic beverages.

A 27-year-old former “My Style Rocks” reality star was in charge of finances at one of the participating gas stations where the tankers with the contraband fuel ended up. For her activity as a member of the ring she was arrested by the Economic Police. The Authorities who were following the movements of the members of the organization had mapped the entire route of the tanks, from the import of the raw materials to the transport of the adulterated fuel. On Tuesday, following another route, they proceeded with the investigations that led to the arrests. In total, 85,265 liters of chemical solvents, 12,101 liters of unleaded petrol without legal documents, 5,762 liters of ethyl alcohol and 746 liters of other alcoholic liquids were found and confiscated.

EXPLOSION IN PIRAEUS

Bomb-message to competitors

The powerful explosion that occurred in the early morning at a gas station in Piraeus is interpreted as a message of pressure and power with a smell of Greek Mafia. The competent officers of the Extortion Prosecution Department also do not rule out that this is an act of competition between gas station owners and exerting pressure to buy the station. The police officers investigating the case are examining information indicating that the shady owner was a 44-year-old man who was recently murdered outside a gas station owned by him in N. Kosmos.
