13th African Games: Rachel Zihindula, only Congolese whistle in the spotlight in Ghana

The 13th African Games officially open this Friday March 8, 2024, in Accra, the Ghanaian capital. These African Olympics which will run until March 23 will bring together 29 sporting disciplines including football. The DRC represented at this mass only with 15 disciplines, is absent from the King sport event on the ground. The U20 ladies and gentlemen have not ensured their qualification.

The country can nevertheless bomb thanks to the presence of Rachel Zihindula, a Congolese referee selected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to officiate the matches. Indeed, among the names of 24 ladies who will be among the 48 officers in black, is the name of the 24-year-old native of Goma. According to CAF, Zihidula is on the verge of making one of his dreams come true.

“I see myself officiating high-level championships like the Champions League, CAN, CHAN and even the World Cup. I’m working on it and I’ll get there,” she confided to Desk Femme from ACTUALITE.CD in March 2023.

A year following entering the restricted class of referees certified by FIFA, she sees herself growing little by little. Her rigor in the field, her sense of work, her uninhibited side propel her with lightning speed.
