Just one month following assuming the position of regional director of the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG), the agricultural civil engineer, Osvaldo Alcayaga Benavente, outlined the main challenges and priorities during his management.

“From our mandate to preserve and promote our heritage of natural, phyto and animal health resources, we face urgent challenges in the Region. Among the priorities are the control and eradication of bovine brucellosis, the prevention of diseases such as equine encephalomyelitis and avian influenza, as well as the promotion of the safety and good reputation of the agricultural products that Ñuble exports, including seeds, berries. and organic products,” said the director.

In addition, Alcayaga emphasized the importance of conserving the productive soils of the region, facing the lack of control of subdivisions of rural properties that threaten the agricultural capacity of Ñuble. Along these lines, he committed to rigorously applying the regulations and the law to protect this invaluable resource, recognized as one of the main productive, ecological and natural assets of the region.

“We will promote inter-institutional work, consulting and collaborating closely with entities such as the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf), the Directorate of Hydraulic Works (DOH) and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (Minvu) to protect the natural heritage of Ñuble in all its dimensions. ”he added.

The new regional director of the SAG also assured that he will be inflexible in the fight once morest adulteration of wine products, recalling the severe fines contemplated by Law 18,459 in force since August 2023, which can reach up to 5,000 UTM, with the aim of protecting reputation. and the quality of the region’s wine sector.

At 49 years of age and with extensive experience in leadership positions – he served as head of the Development and Industry Division of the Regional Government of Ñuble and as coordinator of the Economic Development Office of the Municipality of Quillón – Alcayaga has strengthened his training professional with a Master’s Degree in Public Management, Local and Regional Development, along with diplomas in International Affairs and Decentralized Cooperation; Diploma in Foreign Direct Investment as a Development Tool for the regions of Chile and Diploma in International Cooperation and Investment Attraction.
