Turkish Defense Ministry: There are no conditions for the use of F-16s – 2024-03-09 02:52:59

Turkey’s Ministry of Defense referred to the purchase of F-16 stressing that it is not subject to any conditions.

Sources of the Turkish Ministry of Defense state that, following the approval by the American Congress of the Turkish program for the F-16the letters of offer and acceptance are expected to be submitted by the end of February and predict that “following the review of the letters of offer and acceptance by us and the completion of the plan together with the US authorities, the program is expected to take effect in June-July of 2024”.

During the regular weekly briefing of the defense editors by the representative of the Turkish Ministry of Defense Rear Admiral Zeki Akturk, ministry sources said that talks are underway with the American side to take place in Turkey the production of the aircraft and the modernization of the existing Turkish F-16 fleet, as reported by the state-run TRT network.

According to newsit, the same source said that the sale of F-16s to Turkey is not subject to any conditions. “Contrary to the claims regarding the use of F-16s to be purchased and modernized, as we have previously emphasized, there are no conditions,” he said.

“As far as the F-35 is concerned, there is no change in the attitude of the two countries,” concluded the same source of the Turkish Defense Ministry.
