THE MINISTER of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said that religious moderation needs to be well orchestrated through program synergy and clear action plans. For this reason, he fully supports the activities of the National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) Strengthening Religious Moderation (MB) so that religious moderation efforts have a greater impact real in the process of national and state life.
“I believe that strengthening Religious Moderation can also be a means of realizing a developed and beneficial Indonesia. “At the same time, at the same time a harmonious national life emerges in peace and full of tolerance,” said Minister of Religion Yaqut, citing his written statement received in Jakarta, Thursday (7/3).
Gus Men, as Minister of Religion Yaqut’s nickname, said, was the first National Coordination Meeting following the issuance of Presidential Regulation Number 58 of 2023 which must be carried out by all Ministries and Institutions (K/L). The government views that this MB is very important and urgent for this nation that we love.
For Indonesia, said Gus Men, diversity is God’s destiny that must be accepted. This is a necessity. Religious and cultural diversity can become social capital, to realize advanced and harmonious development.
“On the other hand, religious diversity, if not managed well, can also be a threat. “One of the biggest challenges of our diversity is true claims,” he added.
Not only truth claims, said Gus Men, but as we have seen in recent years, the challenge we face in our national and state life is that there are still certain groups who question the national consensus. At the same time, respect for local culture and traditional values is also increasingly eroding.

“The Religious Moderation Formulation presents a moderate religious spirit, with four main indicators, namely: national commitment must be strengthened, tolerance, non-violence, and respect for local traditions,” he said.
For us, continued Gus Men, religion and nationhood must be carried out in a complementary manner and not confronted or opposed. We hope that this joint effort can create a truly harmonious, harmonious and peaceful society.
Currently, the strengthening of MB has been officially regulated through Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 58 of 2023. In this Presidential Regulation, in article 9 paragraph 2 it is stated that the PMB joint secretariat (Sekber) involves four Coordinating Ministries, namely: Kemenko PMK, Kemenkopolhukam, Kemenko Economy, and the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.

In the mandate of the Presidential Decree, Gus Men as chairman of the implementation of the PMB Secretariat, invited all government officials, both at the central and regional levels, to jointly implement the mandate of the presidential decree, not only as a program, but as a movement.
“I am sure that following this National Coordination Meeting, real programs and movements will emerge in our respective agencies, so that the impact can be felt in the wider community,” he concluded.
Previously, Balitbang Diklat Suyitno in his report said, Presidential Regulation Number 58 of 2023 concerning strengthening religious moderation, in it mandates that all Ministries/Institutions and Provincial and Regency/City Governments must participate in implementing MB in accordance with their duties, functions and authority.

According to him, in 2024, there are several ministries/institutions that have budgeted for MB strengthening programs, “This year too, according to the Presidential Decree, Gus the Minister as daily chairman of the Joint Secretariat, will collect reports from all ministries/agencies regarding the implementation of MB, including from the Government “Provincial and Regency/City Governments,” he stressed.
Regarding the formulation, this National Coordination Meeting will be discussed, starting from the form of reporting to the reporting procedures. Because according to Suyitno, this report will also be monitored directly by Deputy V and Deputy II of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP).
Carrying the theme of Synergy Strengthening Religious Moderation for an Advanced and Harmonious Indonesia, this National Coordination Meeting was attended by Echelon I Officials of the Ministry of Religion, Expert Staff, Special Staff, Expert Staff, Deputy V KSP, Heads of Regional Offices of the Ministry of Religion, Chancellors of State Religious Universities (PTKN) , Chancellors of State Universities (PTN), Chancellors of Private Universities (PTS), Middle High Officials from 14 Ministries, delegates from the Provincial Kesbangpol, as well as Heads of UPTs in the Balitbang Education and Training environment.
