This Thursday, the Ministry of Education announced the implementation of a new Special Scholarship for higher education students affected by the fires.

This scholarship will consist of direct aid of $1,150,000. Added to this is the free replacement of the National Student Card (TNE) and additional resources for those who have the Food Scholarship for Higher Education (BAES).

“Now we also have an answer for higher education students, as we have already announced for basic and secondary education students, through school kits,” said the Minister of Education, Nicolás Cataldo.

Cataldo also announced that those who have the BAES will access complementary resources, “which are an additional $70 thousand per month, freely available.” In the case of young people affected by the emergency and who do not have this benefit, they will also access this aid, which will be assigned to them automatically.

Regarding the payment of this new scholarship, the national director of the National School Aid and Scholarship Board (Junaeb), Camila Rubio, explained that “deposits are made in the students’ RUT account or can be collected at any Banco Estado branch. “.

To access the benefit, Rubio explained that “students must be in the ‘affected’ category in the Basic Emergency File (FIBE) and be enrolled or be a regular student in higher education institutions recognized by the State.”
